BATTERIES ARE PROHIBITED IN DUMPSTERS

Dear Valued Customer,

We are reaching out regarding an increasingly serious issue impacting the waste and recycling industry: the improper disposal of lithium batteries in dumpsters and waste containers.

The disposal of lithium-ion batteries and other battery types has become an industry-wide safety concern. Across the country, transfer stations, recycling facilities, landfills, collection vehicles, and transportation systems are experiencing a growing number of fires caused by batteries that were improperly disposed of in waste containers. Unfortunately, these incidents are becoming far too common.

For those facilities and companies that have not yet experienced a battery-related fire, it is no longer a matter of if it will happen, it is a matter of when. Every week, our industry learns of another thermal event caused by batteries hidden within waste or recycling loads.

To help protect our employees, customers, drivers, equipment, facilities, and the communities we serve, all batteries are strictly prohibited from disposal in Pete & Pete Container Service dumpsters and containers.

We ask for your partnership in helping to address this growing problem through awareness, education, and proper disposal practices. Please ensure that employees, contractors, subcontractors, tenants, and anyone utilizing your dumpster understand that batteries must never be placed in waste containers.

If batteries are found in a container, additional charges will be assessed for removal, handling, contamination, cleanup, disposal, or damages resulting from improper disposal.
